Sport and Recreation New Zealand
Sport and Recreation New Zealand (SPARC) is the New Zealand government body responsible for community sport and recreation programs. It was formed on 1 January 2003 and took over the functions of the Hillary Commission, the New Zealand Sports Foundation and the policy arm of the Office of Tourism and Sport.[1] From 2012, it will be known as Sport New Zealand.
The SPARC vision aims:
- to be the most active nation.
- to be winning consistently in events that matter to New Zealand.
- to achieve this by having the most effective sport and recreation systems.
